Ace,slang for "prime choice" pick of the litter

Ace is my clown, my loving, spontaneous, freaky clown. Who is smart, but stupid you have to meet him to be able to understand that. Ace was rescued, he was originally used as a “bait dog” A dog used to train other fighting dogs to fight. The rescue also said he had evidence of being hit with a brick. Ace has a lot of issues with fear, though he wouldn’t attack anyone, he runs from many things, we are working with him, with that. It’s taking awhile but he’s getting a little better everyday Ace has a bark you would never expect, it is the most pathetic bark I’ve ever heard come out of a dog his size, it’s hilarious! Ace loves to bark though, he has “conversations” with me I’ll say something and he will bark or whine back cock his head, and then that is usually followed by a disgusting slobbery lick. Ace has a lot of strange antics and hates being alone. One thing he loves to do is to steal things from you, it’s funny to watch if I’m not the one who’s stuff he steals(usually I am not) and he will romp around the house drop it and wait until you get really close, close enough to grab it, and he’ll snatch it right up again. Ace refuses to eat out of his food dish, he’d much rather take the food out of the bowl carry it to the living room eat it there, then go back to get more. In real life Ace IS a lady’s man, well at least he attempts to be one. The majority of the time he tries to “get his freak on” he is rejected or nipped at by the female, and of course he must keep being so persistent and though he is neutered he still has the urges I suppose. I feel bad for the female dogs because he just doesn’t stop. I can pretty much trust ace with all animals but frogs and rabbits, I am not sure why, a lot of things Ace does is a mystery to me, but there is something about frogs and rabbits that just drives him nuts. Ace isn’t the most trainable dog, he does understand all his commands and can learn a new one in a short amount of time, I believe I taught him the command “crawl” in about 4 minutes. The problem with intelligent dogs is though they may understand what you’re asking them to do, they question why they do it. I’ve had 2 pits before Ace both of them listened to everything I asked them to do command wise Ace though, Ace will only do something if he sees a reason why he should which happens to be very annoying. Ace is great with kids and he adores the attention he gets from them in the house with my little brothers and sisters, with my cousins, and also with people at the park little kids he doesn’t know. Though I won’t leave him alone with any of them they can do pretty much anything they want to him, poke him in the eye, pull his ears, shove there fingers in his mouth, and he seems to enjoy every minute of it. Unlike a lot of other dogs who are good at making kids laugh, but that’s where there intelligence stops, Ace can do the intelligence while making the kiddies laugh Ace is rambunctious, but he does have his soft, calm, sweet, affectionate, let me just lay here by you part of him. Which is by far my favorite part of his personality. And though I LOVE playing with him, working with him, exercising with him. It seems when we relax together is when we bond the most I love my dog, and nothing you think or say about him, will ever make me think otherwise.
